CHARMING VILLAGES

In 2019 the municipality of Pals received the distinction of Charming Villages, by the Catalan Tourism Agency. It is a pleasure to be part of the few municipalities in Catalonia that have received this distinction. This has been possible because few towns offer such a wealth of attractions as Pals. One of them is the fortification of the very well-conserved historical quarter and another is its enviable location atop a big hill with great views of the sea, the neighbouring Medes Islands and the plains of L’Empordà, which these days are wetlands dedicated to the farming of high-quality rice. But Pals, is much more than archways and narrow medieval cobbled streets. Here you will also find an interesting array of masies (typical Catalan houses), some of which are fortified, from the 15th century, and a wide sandy beach in which the dune landscape stands out, which together with the rice fields form part of the Montgrí, Illes Medes and Baix Ter Natural Park.
