Platja Gran

This beach is partially urban, but with an important natural area that includes the site where Radio Liberty used to broadcast from. The area in front of this zone has traditionally been a nudist beach. The entire beach forms part of the Natural Park of Montgrí, les Medes i el Baix Ter. There is an important and delicate area of dunes on the seaward side of Platja Gran that has been cordoned off to prevent damage from uncontrolled access. To the north is Platja del Grau and to the south is Platja del Racó (in the municipal area of Begur).

The Catalan Water Agency regularly tests the water for microbiology and environmental quality. The average quality rating of this beach is excellent.

Indication of the swimming area and  access point for the landing and launching of vessels indicated by buoys, safety equipment and lifeguards (from 15 June to 30 September), waste bins, showers, public toilets  (1 adapted for the disabled), tourist information stand, daily cleaning of the sand ( from 1 June to 30 September), disabled access, walkways, 1 amphibious beach chair, beach bars and a parking area without guards.
